Google Wave is a nascent communication tool being developed with an attitude of “if email were invented today, what would it be?” For an excellent and interesting demo of Google Wave, see this presentation from the unveiling at Google IO.

It looks very cool, perhaps even “game-changing”. To try out the Google Wave API, you need to sign up for a sandbox developer’s account. There is also a developer’s guide.

Although Google has promised to give out sandbox accounts to the 20,000+ people waiting to get one, it is not clear just how fast this will be done.

All attendees of the Hackfest will get sandbox developer accounts.

Who can attend
I’ve set up a Google Group for the Hackfest, so if you are interested, ask to join. Be sure to tell me who you are, where you are located, and how you found out about the event, just to ensure you are legit.
